Hiphop In Je Smoel is proud to present ‘PICTURE THIS: Rotterdam Street Art Photography And the People Behind Its Lens’! This unique book captures the essence of Rotterdam street art and describes the indispensable role of photographers in this movement. On September 3, the book launch will take place during street art festival ALL CAPS.
PICTURE THIS is a breathtaking 256-page hardcover filled with stunning photographs by four prominent Rotterdam photographers: Ben Melger, Martine Kiers, Herman Roelofs and MJay. This book brings together Rotterdam murals and traditional graffiti, providing a more complete picture of these inspiring art forms. The texts are written by Jaap van der Doelen. PICTURE THIS is an English-language publication.
PICTURE THIS is a coffee-table book that takes the reader on a journey through the streets of Rotterdam. It not only lets you experience the beauty of the artworks, but also discover the thoughts and perspectives of the photographers behind the lens. This makes PICTURE THIS a unique addition to anyone’s collection. PICTURE THIS will be available from September 3 in a limited edition of only 1,500 copies.
The release party
During the start of street art festival ALL CAPS, on September 3, the book release will take place, between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. This annual event celebrates street art culture in all its facets. Special features include murals, workshops, tours and a kids program on the closing Sunday. The festival takes place in the vibrant Feijenoord district in the south side of Rotterdam, and runs from September 3 to 10.

During the book release, PICTURE THIS will be officially presented and visitors will have the chance to be the first to look at and buy the book. In addition, a special exhibition featuring images from PICTURE THIS will open. The book exhibition will be on display at Korte Stadionweg 103B, Rotterdam between September 3 and 10, where the book will also be on sale throughout the week. The exhibition can be seen on these days between 12 noon and 6 pm.
