Street art often begins in a so-called blackbook: sketchbooks that others are also allowed to draw in. A place where ideas and inspiration are exchanged. For Denny Overbeek, the blackbook is also the birthplace of the art project The Books Happen.
More than 70 artists have already received an unexpected package, along with the invitation to become part of The Books Happen. The dummy sketchbook they receive is filled with images, colors, different types of paper, and above all, a lot of freedom. The books do not come with rules or instructions, but with the space to turn this dummy into a unique work of art. The series of artist books that emerges forms an overall installation that fills the ALL CAPS EXPO in 2026.
Discover the books alongside videos, objects, poetry, music snippets, and interactive elements that complete the experience. With this exhibition, we celebrate art in book form and especially the impact of collaboration; the collages demonstrate the power of dialogue between artists of different disciplines, generations, and cultural backgrounds.
